Ok everyone. You are going to have to bear with me a bit. I came home today to find that my computer had crashed. I tried to recover…nothing. I tried calling my buddies (who work with computer)…still nothing. It seems that the most likely possibility is the my hard drive has suffered a physical crash. As in…no recovery. As in…data gone. Now, thanks to e-mails from my volunteers, I can restore my master file of race results, short of the racers I was tracking. Why not mine? Because I stupidly never got around to transfering any of my TB Race files to my external hard drive. DOH! That also means ALL TB RACE files, going back all the way to the 1st race, are now gone. I (THANK GOODNESS) have backups on Google Docs of some of them. But there is one file I do not have that would be important…the scoring guide that I gave to volunteers.
Okay. I am trying to type this using my PS3. However, it is giving me a word limit (which is odd). I will continue this post in the comments below…

NOW I AM READY TO THROW MY KEYBOARD BECAUSE MY STUPID PS3 DETECTS A SHIFT-BACKSPACE AND DELETES EVERYTHING I HAVE JUST TYPED INSTEAD OF JUST A SINGLE CHARACTER…AND I’VE DONE THIS FOUR TIMES NOW. *#%^
Moving on…if a 2011 scoring volunteer has a copy of the scoring guide, could you please e-mail it to me? It would save me a lot of work since the rules are the same this year. That is one of the files I have lost. I suspect a copy of that and other files are residing somewhere in my e-mail history, but if not, I can still rebuild the other files quickly. The scoring guide is NOT a quick fix.
As for 2011 race results, 2012 volunteers, etc. I hope to have my computer up and running next week. I need to buy a new hard drive, and I just ordered a set of Windows recovery discs. BTW…if you are planning on buying an HP computer, or have already bought one in the last few years, you likely didn’t get a set of recovery discs with your purchase. Some idiot higher up decided that would cost to much and…
instead expects the customer to make their own using a not so advertised Windows “Recover Disc Maker” feature (which I thought was to make just a restore point, not an actual Windows Disc that I could reload Windows with). If you have purchased an HP recently, then take my advice and make the disc now. Another BTW…their tech support people are idiots. “Your computer isn’t working? Oh, well you’re past the warrenty so for us to help you in any way you will need to pay us $60. No sir, we don’t keep physical recovery discs nor do we sell them. You have to make one on your own. Let us help you start up your computer and we can tell you how. What? What is your option if we can’t fix the computer? Well we refund the $60, then tell you how to go online to get the instructions for making a recovery disc, which would obviously require a working computer, even though we couldn’t help you fix it. Well we can’t say if it isn’t working until you pay the $60.”
Why are they idiots? Because after that phone call, the HP WEBSITE CONTAINS INSTRUCTIONS FOR HOW TO ORDER A RECOVERY DISC FROM THE VERY TECH SUPPORT THAT JUST TOLD ME THEY DON’T SELL RECOVERY DISCS!
I think I developed aneurysm talking to them, and again after finding the order page.
Anywho…once I get the discs and hard drive, I’ll get my computer running and start working on those race items I mentioned. Don’t you just love how the world likes to through a wrench at your head at just the most opportune times? I know I surely do. It makes life so wonderful.
I sure hope ALL of you are smart enough to detect my sarcasm. If not…me fix problem soon. Me say names of winners soon. Me contact new volunteers soon. Me nice person.
Me tired and can’t think of anything else and feeling like at this point I am sounding a bit angry mixed with crazy mixed with cynicism. So I say good night and hope you have a good weekend. Be back soon.

I just email all the info that you originally sent to me. I think these are what you need. Let me know if you need any other info…

Poor Trip! Hope you have a hot tub nearby… or know a good massause… or get your hard drive installed soon!
p.s. I’m willing to be a volunteer, too. But let me make a recovery disc first.
Wow, Trip, I can only imagine what you must be going through. I am so sorry to hear of that (and yes, HP are idiots).
I will have my final bug tracking sheet in to you by Sunday – I want to give New years trackers a chance to post their logs.
Trip,
I’m just reading this today. I sincerely hope that you’ve managed to calm down. I can almost see the smoke coming from your ears as you were going thru all of that. I feel so bad for you. All of the support people are idiots and make us crazy. Please don’t let them send you over the edge!!!
Hope your computer is doing better.

I know you asked for volunteers a few days ago, but consider me happy to help as well
